Review of Anor Business Lounge, Tashkent Airport

This is my review of the Anor Business Lounge inside Tashkent Airport.

This will be one of the shorter reviews that I will do purely because there isn’t much to write about. There are three lounges in the international departure area of Tashkent International Airport with Anor seeming to be the smallest. There is also the Anjir Business lounge (which is also available on Priority Pass) and the Uzbekistan Lounge.

Entry requirements

If you have priority pass, I would recommend going to the Anjir Business Lounge which is also used as a contract lounge for other airlines. From some of the reviews, it does look a bit nicer.

I was flying with Qatar Airlines and had lounge access thanks to my oneworld Sapphire status so had a voucher for the Anor Lounge. I don’t know of any other way to get in, there wasn’t an entry desk or any other signage in the lounge.

I walked in, gave my voucher to someone behind the bar but they didn’t seem interested at all as they stopped their conversation for long enough to look at me, and went to find a seat. Dare I say, you could probably just walk in and nobody would notice.

Location

As you walk through security you will entry some duty free shops. Turn right and it is a short walk on your right hand side.

Inside the lounge

The lounge is quite small with a bar and food area with a small selection of seating in front of the entrance and then another room with some more seating options to the right. That’s it!

The one thing that shocked me was just how dark it was inside the lounge, which I think my pictures show. Not dark as in, “this is some mood lighting ambience” but just dark! As if they hadn’t turned any lights on at all!

There were some food options in a glass cabinet which you could order and then the staff would heat up for you and I chose a burger which was the most exciting option. Whilst it was heating up, I also saw three bane maries that had plov, potato wedges and some samsas inside (small meaty pastries). Food is not the reason to visit Uzbekistan and the beige selection sums up the cuisine in the country.

I also had a glass of Uzbek wine which was extremely sweet and pretty disgusting. The four staff behind the bar struggled to open the wine bottle. Make of that what you will.

I went to one of the comfier looking chairs but still found it incredibly hard. The toilets were what you would expect to find in a village hall. I also couldn’t get the wifi to work so just used the remaining data on my sim card.

I only had a few photos of the lounge as 1) there wasn’t much to see 2) it was so dark, a lot of the ones I tried to take were blurry.

Summing up the Anor Business Lounge

It’s actually kind of sad that Qatar Airways sends their premium passengers to this lounge. It is probably the worst lounge I’ve been to and I would probably have been just as happy sitting on a plastic chair and paying for dinner in the main terminal.

The food was rubbish, the drink was disgusting, chairs uncomfy and the whole thing was rather awful. If you had a criteria to hit when making a lounge, this failed on every aspect. The queues at the airport can be long so I’m glad I arrived early, unfortunately that meant spending more time in this lounge.
