Before my flights from Da Nang to Kuala Lumpur via Ho Chi Minh, I spent some time in the Lotus Lounge, Vietnam Airlines signature lounges, in the domestic terminal of Da Nang airport.
Whilst nothing incredible, it is a nice place to spend a couple of hours before your flight and a lot nicer than the sparse domestic terminal that has rows of seating and some food options.
Where is the domestic Lotus Lounge in Da Nang
Once you are through security, there are some stairs with signage towards some lounges. There are some other lounge at the top of the stairs including some for some Vietnamese banks.
At the very top of the stairs is the welcome desk and Vietnam Airlines signage where I was welcomed into the lounge on the left.

Inside the domestic Lotus Lounge, Da Nang
Upon entry there are lockers on the right and the lounge on the left. There is a small work area with a printer and computer screens and some magazines on a rack. I like how a lot of Asian lounges still have magazine racks which have been removed from many other lounges after the pandemic.
There are toilets on the right and there are Japanese style toilets with a remote control for cleaning yourself after going to the toilet.

The rest of the lounge has a range of seating with a lot of lounge chairs in most of the open area.
There are some restaurant style tables and chairs near the buffet area.
I went to a far corner and sat in one of the large lounge chairs. At that time in the morning, the lounge was quite empty and I had plenty of options on where to sit.

Food and drink in the domestic Lotus Lounge, Da Nang
I have to say that the food and drink offerings were pretty poor. I arrived at the lounge around 10am which is when some breakfast options were available. Some breads and basic pastries were available when I first entered but didn’t look appetising.
There were some Banh Chung, Vietnamese sticky rice cakes and a few other options which didn’t look appealing. There was a large section of fresh fruit which you don’t often see in lounges.

I did like that the buffet section had a fish tank dividing the two sides which was a feature piece in the lounge. On the other side of the fish tank was a noodle area where fresh noodles were in bowls and you added your own sauces and broths to cook them.
The noodles were simple but tasty.

There was a fridge with cold drinks including water, soft drinks and sugary ice tea and fruit juices. There were some half empty bottles of wine in the fridge which may have been more prominently displayed in the afternoon. There were also some yogurts on the bottom shelf.
There was an instant coffee machine that served a decent coffee with condensed milk next to it for the final taste of Vietnamese coffee!

Summing up the domestic Lotus Lounge, Da Nang
The domestic Lotus Lounge at Da Nang Terminal 1 is a pleasant place to spend some time before a domestic flight on Vietnam Airlines. You can only access the lounge with a business class ticket as Sky Team Elite Plus members do not get access at this airport.
The food and drink options aren’t great but are good enough if you are hungry or thirsty. There is ample seating and a lot comfier than the rest of the terminal.
It is a nice lounge for domestic flights that is peaceful, quiet and comfy, but keep your expectations in check before visiting.
